Alarm Message Definitions

Alarm Message Definitions

Definitions for alarms we've seen on our UPS. (These definitions come from Appendix A.2 of the manual for the UPS.)

AUTO MODE COMMAND
Indicates that the Auto Mode command of the front panel was issued.

BATTERY CURRENT LIMIT
The DC voltage is lowered to reduce the amount of Battery charge current.

BATTERY CONTACTOR CLOSED
Indicates that the Battery contactor is closed.

BATTERY CONTACTOR OPEN
Indicates that the Battery contactor is open.

BATTERY TOTALLY DISCHARGED
The UPS went ON BATTERY and fully discharged the battery.

BUILDING ALARM 6
Will be either a Remote Battery Disconnect Switch Open signal, Battery Cabinet (Pack 55xx of 80xx) Breaker Open signal or customer provided alarm.

BYPASS ACUV
Occurs when Bypass AC voltage is in undervoltage.

BYPASS BREAKER CLOSED
Indicates that the Bypass breaker has closed.

BYPASS IS AVAILABLE
Occurs whenever the UPS is able to transfer the output load to the Bypass source from the Inverter or re-transfer the output load from the Bypass source to the Inverter. All of the following conditions must be met for Byoass to be available:
BYPASS ACOV/ACUV/UFOF INACTIVE
BYPASS, INVERTER AND OUTPUT VOLTAGES CALIBRATED
BYPASS MANUAL TURN ALARM IS INACTIVE
BYPASS PHASES ARE NOT ROTATED

BYPASS IS NOT AVAILABLE
Occurs whenever the UPS is not able to transfer the output load to the Bypass source from the Inverter or re-transfer the output load from the Bypass source to the Inverter.

BYPASS OFF
Occurs when the firmware disables the Bypass source.

BYPASS ON
Occurs when the firmware enables the Bypass source.

BYPASS UF/OF
Occurs when the Bypass frequency deviates too far from the set frequency limits.

CHARGER OFF
Occurs when the firmware disables the charger.

CHARGER ON
Occurs when the firmware enables the charger.

CHARGER OVOI
Either the voltage limit was exceeded or the DC current doubled and the Charger turned off.

CONTROL POWER OFF
Occurs when the logic control power is turned off

CONTROL POWER ON
Occurs when the logic control power is energized.

CPU ISR ERROR
Indicates that an invalid CPU interrupt has occurred. A false alarm might be caused by noise on the Analog Logic Board when a breaker is opened or closed.

DC LINK BLEED COMPLETE
Occurs when the Inverter is totally shutdown and has completed the DC Link Bleed. When the Inverter is shutdown it re-energizes temporarily in an attempt to reduce the DC Link voltage to a safe DC level.

DC UNCALIBRATED
The DC Link voltage is not calibrated.

DC UNDER VOLTAGE
Indicates that the battery or DC voltage dropped to the DC under voltage level.

FROM BYPASS COMMAND
Occurs when the From Bypass Command of the front panel was issued.

INVERTER ACUV INTERRUPT
The Inverter voltage has dropped below the nominal Inverter output voltage and the firmware interrupted to take action.

INVERTER BLEEDING DC LINK VOLTAGE
Occurs when the Inverter is totally shutdown and re-energizes to reduce the DC Link voltage to a safe level.

INVERTER CONTACTOR CLOSED
Indicates that the Inverter contactor is closed.

INVERTER CONTACTOR OPEN
Indicates that the Inverter contactor is open.

INVERTER OFF
Occurs when the firmware disables the Inverter.

INVERTER LOW LEVEL TEST TIMEOUT
Occurs whenever the Inverter does not pass all of its low level test within ten seconds.

INVERTER OFF COMMAND
Indicates that the Inverter Off Command of the front panel was issued.

INVERTER ON
Occurs when the firmware enables the Inverter.

INVERTER ON COMMAND
Occurs when the Inverter On Command of the front panel was issued.

LOAD ON BYPASS & UPS OFF
Occurs when the Inverter/Charger is completely shutdown (requires manual intervention to re-energize) and the Bypass source is supplying power to the critical bus.

LOSS OF CHARGER SYNC
Occurs when the Charger looses sync with its input, causing shutdown.

OUTPUT ACUV
Occurs when the output voltage is in undervoltage.

PHASE A (B OR C) CURRENT LIMIT
The Inverter Phase A (B or C) peak current level has exceeded the rating of the Inverter and is in current limit (10 cycles max).

RECTIFIER ACUV
Occurs when the Rectifier input is in undervoltage.

RECTIFIER BREAKER CLOSED
Indicates that the Rectifier Input breaker was closed.

RECTIFIER BREAKER OPEN
Indicates that the Rectifier Input breaker was opened.

RECTIFIER CURRENT LIMIT
Indicates that the DC Link voltage has been reduced to limit the Rectifier input current to the unit's rating.

TO BYPASS COMMAND
Indicates that the To Bypass Command of the front panel was issued.

UPS AND BYPASS IN PARALLEL
Occurs when the Inverter parallels the Bypass to perform a To Bypass or From Bypass command.

UPS FAILURE
Oddly enough, this message is not defined.

UPS SUPPLYING LOAD
Occurs whenever the unit status changes to Unit Normal mode. The Charger and Inverter are supplying power to the critical bus.

UPS SUPPLYING LOAD ON BATTERY
The load dropped while On Battery.

WAITING FOR INPUT
Occurs whenever the Charger is waiting for valid input in order to energize the Charger when the Inverter is off-line.
