While I was home for the holidays in December, 2003,
I received this email in response to a
"Make L$D Fast"
chain letter (a spoof of the Dave Rhodes letter) I posted to the web.

your instructions on how to make lsd were the simplest on the internet. I followed your recipe almost down to a tee but was not able to make lsd. here are the things that i think might have possibly gone wrong 1. I started my recipe with fosters beer only bottles instead of cans ,it boiled off at 32 hours. 2. what was left was ergot im sure i added milk but left in freezer a tad to long when i took out the milk was iced over,oops. 3.Stirred in the lysine but it said L-lysine on the bottle is this the same? Does the filler in the tablets hurt the recipe?(particularly microcellulose and magnesium stearate+silica) 4.used 3% hydrogen at 8 cups to substitute.5. my basement is about 68 degrees there I let it set for exactly three days at the end of which was still bubbling but had changed to a clearer liquid was the reaction complete?Will this temperature do?( I can get lysine out by dilluting in water removing the extra then evaporating, if necessary) I tried the dilution but
it didnt work tried the pure which also failed. Hopefully you can help me find my mistake I am down to my last penny just as you were in 88 I pray for your help.

I took it to be a joke response in the spirit of the page it was
referencing and even replied "This is funny. Mind if I publish it on
my web site?"
Then I got a
follow up phone call.
