Public key authentication SSH on the DCS research cluster
Public key authentication SSH on the DCS research cluster
Public key authentication for SSH on
research.rutgers.edu
and the Linux machines in the research cluster
is now done with temporary key pairs for security reasons.
The rest of Solaris machines in that cluster will follow suit shortly.
Since enabling it completely under user control leaves us completely
at the mercy of the security on the machines from which you are
coming, we now generate short term key pairs you can download and use.
The key pairs currently last 8 hours.
The URL for generating a temporary key pair is
http://www.cs.rutgers.edu/~robtuck/mkrussh/mkrussh-howto-cmd.html
Rob Tuck has written some documentation on usage at
http://www.cs.rutgers.edu/~robtuck/mkrussh/
If you're interested, there is
a web page describing why we went to such a scheme.
