Subject: [SE] Three Eclipses in One Calendar Month

With July rapidly approaching, I'm starting to become inundated with e-mail
asking me "How rare is it to have three eclipses in one month?" and "When
was the last time (or next time) that three eclipses occur in one month?"

In order to save myself a lot of repetition, I've prepared two little
tables which list all the instances of "Three Eclipses In One Calendar
Month" for the 500 year period 1801-2300.

They actually break down into two groups:

- 2 solar and 1 lunar eclipse in a month
- 1 solar and 2 lunar eclipses in a month

In the first group, the two solar eclipses are always partial and the lunar
eclipse is invariably total. In the second group, the lunar eclipses are
all penumbral while the solar eclipses are central (either total or
annular).

If you are asked about "Three Eclipses In One Calendar Month", please feel
free to pass along the following information.
